Creating a Soccer TeamSo you wanna form a team, eh? Good! We are here to help! We welcome new teams from the surrounding areas such as Russellville, Athens and especially Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia and Sheffield. First, with the organization of the Shoals Soccer Club, we have already done most of the work for you by forming "The Club." You must be a member of "a club" to participate in AYSA-sanctioned games and tournaments. The Shoals Soccer Club is an umbrella organization that we hope will eventually encompass all area youth teams. We are affiliated with the Alabama Youth Soccer Association which is affiliated with the Alabama Soccer Association. Their website (www.AlabamaYouthSoccer.org) is filled with valuable information and forms for creating a team. Here are a few suggestions for forming your team. This page is a work in progress and will probably only be updated when and if other involved parents begin asking us about forming their own team. So, following are a few random thoughts to get you started. Be aware of the rules! Check out www.ahsaa.com/eligibility/basicrules-eligibility.asp. It sure would be a shame to go through the trouble of organizing a team comprised of all Muscle Shoals High School players only to discover that half your team is ineligible to play for their high school's team next year! The next step is to complete the paperwork for forming your team. All team members must complete an application to the AYSA. A Xerox copy of a birth certificated will be necessary to receive your "Player Cards" (an ID card with your child's name a picture that is used by referees to ensure the team members are eligible to play in a particular game). All players must also complete a medical release form. All the necessary forms are located on the Alabama Youth Soccer Association's website located here: www.alabamayouthsoccer.org/index.php?page=forms/forms Once all the proper the forms are completed, you submit your forms to our Club Registrar who will complete the process for you and you'll be official. |
