Unofficial division specifications

Division I:  Highly competitive.  You play the "best of the best" teams from all over the region.  Intensive skills development.  This is where you need to be if you plan on playing at a higher level after club soccer.  Division II teams typically "graduate" to Division I after a year or two of play.  Will participate in tournaments in cities such as Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham, Montgomery and Huntsville.  Some overnight stays required.  Teams are formed via tryouts.

Division II: Highly competitive.  Teams play to win.  Most teams start out at Division II and move up to Division I as the teams become more experienced.  Will participate in tournaments in cities such as Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham, Montgomery and Huntsville.  Some overnight stays required.  Teams are formed via tryouts.

Division III:  Focus is on FUN as opposed to winning.  All players must play at least 50% of each game.  Some day travel to play other Division III teams in Huntsville, Athens, Madison and Decatur as well as local teams.  Overnight stay for tournaments in other cities may be necessary.  Teams are formed via tryouts.

Division IV:  Also known as "Recreational League."  This is the introductory level of soccer and is just for fun.  No travel involved.  All players get equal playing time.  Teams play other recreational league teams from the local area only.  Teams may be formed via tryouts.  However, tryouts are designed to make all teams as equal as possible so that no one team dominates the league.
